Authorities in Ventura County have conducted a significant narcotics and cash seizure, stemming from an investigation into a man suspected of dealing cocaine, as shared by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Oxnard resident Richard Edward Linares, has found himself tangled in the legal system after an extensive probe by the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU).

Under the suspicion that Linares was involved in the illicit sale of controlled substances to locals, detectives amassed probable cause for his arrest, secured a search warrant, and on April 29, 2025, they swooped in for the capture, a combined effort of the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) and the SEU detectives, all these details come straight from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. The warrant led law enforcement to an address on Cedar Street in Oxnard where they stumbled upon a trove that included over eight ounces of cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, Adderall pills, among other substances, along with evidence suggesting an operation in the illicit narcotics trade, and more than $74,000 believed to be proceeds of drug sales.

Diligence paid off when detectives, escorted by the Sheriff's K-9 Unit, unearthed not only the drugs but also a substantial amount of packaging materials. The accused stands charged with violations of California Health and Safety Codes, specifically sections 11351 and 11378.

After an arraignment where the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed charges, Linares remains behind bars, awaiting trial, according to the press office of the Ventura County Sheriff.
