
Tragedy struck in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane neighborhood when a man in his 50s succumbed to his injuries after being shot multiple times inside an apartment. The incident, which occurred late Tuesday night, saw first responders carry the wounded man down three flights of stairs, an effort to save a life that ultimately proved futile. According to NBC Philadelphia, the police found the victim bleeding on a mattress from wounds to his torso, hip, backside, and leg.
While the man, who rushed to Einstein Hospital after the shooting, later died, officers were busy recovering evidence from the scene. As stated by NBC Philadelphia, "He was conscious, but he was in a lot of pain," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small revealed about the man's condition post-shooting. Six shell casings were found at the scene, indicating the severity of the incident. Meanwhile, 6abc Philadelphia reports that three adults who heard the gunshots were taken in for questioning, painting a dire picture of the violence that unfolded.
The shooting, which took place along the 7100 block of Ogontz Avenue, has left authorities piecing together what happened.
