A popular Pittsburgh pizzeria, Fiori's Pizzeria, has been condemned after a severe storm dramatically tore off the structure's roof. Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania recently visited the site to survey the damage inflicted by the severe weather conditions. According to a report by CBS News Pittsburgh, Shapiro stopped by Fiori's on Capital Avenue, where he discussed options to assist the family-owned establishment on its road to recovery.

Co-owner of Fiori's, Melinda Rich, conveyed to CBS News Pittsburgh the moment the storm hit: "Just a big gust of wind and the rain, and, I mean, I just heard a big loud bang." The high winds didn't just leave the pizzeria roofless, but also scattered debris in the surrounding neighborhood. In a statement detailed by WTAE, Fiori's owner Fiore Moscatiello expressed his shock and determination: "I started crying, yeah, as soon as I see that. All these years to be here, and now just one day, you see, it's gone. But I'm going to fix it. Probably take a little while but I'll fix it."

Following the incident, a team from Burns & Scalo construction quickly arrived to address the damage, working to install a temporary roof. Derek Dennick of Burns & Scalo asserted, according to CBS News Pittsburgh, "Mayor Gainey was here earlier and met with the Fioris and mentioned if we can get the temporary roof on back on, they would lift the condemnation." It is the city's call on when Fiori's can ultimately resume business, which hinges on a successful inspection once the temporary roof is secured.
