The National Weather Service in Raleigh, North Carolina, has laid out a forecast that brings wet weather our way, starting with possible rain and thunderstorms later today and leading into a chance of severe weather over the next several days; residents may need to brace for potential flooding early next week amid periods of heavy rain predicted for Monday and Tuesday.
Today's weather outlook, as per the NWS, includes a mix of clouds and sun with the temperature climbing to a high near 81 degrees and a 40% chance of precipitation – conditions are ripe for less than a tenth of an inch of rain, although that amount could be higher should thunderstorms strike; come nightfall, the skies are expected to clear somewhat, leaving behind a partly cloudy evening and cooler temperatures around 53 degrees.
As we head into the weekend, Saturday's forecast suggests a partly sunny sky with highs hovering around 73 degrees, whereas Sunday introduces a 20% chance of rain after 2 p.m.; it seems that the region will be entwined in an unsettled weather pattern which doesn't promise many chances for stargazing or sunbathing, with abundant cloud cover persisting and looming opportunities for rainfall as next week approaches.
According to the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the NWS, adverse conditions could ramp up on Monday with a 70% likelihood of showers, primarily in the afternoon and continuing into an 80% chance of precipitation overnight; Tuesday's weather ups the ante with showers and the potential for thunderstorms after 2 p.m., possessing a high near 75 degrees and a 90% chance of precipitation, the skies are expected to release enough moisture to raise fears of flooding.
Moving further into next week, showers continue to be a high probability, with both Wednesday and Thursday having over a 60% and 40% chance respectively for rainfall – the week looks saturated, wet, and the antithesis of dry spells, asking locals to keep their rain gear at arm's reach and their schedules flexible to accommodate the whims of the weather gods.
