The City of Henderson has named Reggie Rader as its new police chief after a search following the dismissal of former Chief Hollie Chadwick. Rader, who was deputy chief at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, was announced at a news conference. He said, "I am incredibly honored to step into the role of chief of police for the city of Henderson — a city that means so much to me personally," as reported by Review Journal. City manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause said Rader will work to improve officer morale and address about 60 vacancies in the department.
More than 50 candidates were considered in the nationwide search for the new police chief before Rader was selected. His deep community roots and clear vision for Henderson's public safety services were important in the decision. According to News 3LV, Garcia-Vause said, "Reggie brings a notable combination of professional excellence, deep community roots, and a long-term vision for Henderson’s public safety."
Regenbaum, representing the local law enforcement unions, welcomed Rader’s appointment as Henderson Police Chief, saying, “The Henderson Police unions appreciate the City’s thorough search for a new chief. Both unions are booking forward to a new beginning with Chief Rader,” as per Review Journal. Rader’s leadership focuses on transparency to build trust within the department and community. His predecessor, Chadwick, left amid allegations of covering up an officer’s DUI and conflicts with the union. Chadwick is now running for mayor and said, “I can just tell you, I stood by what I believe,” as mentioned by News 3LV. Rader took office on July 7 and has pledged to lead with honesty and accountability.
