Michael Garcia, 36, was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms. Court documents state that Garcia, along with his wife Nancy Garcia, his father Gonzalo Garcia, and associate Tyler Combs, distributed methamphetamine and heroin in Sacramento and Solano Counties, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
While serving time at Tulare County Jail for previous narcotics offenses, Garcia used a network including his family to sell large amounts of drugs to a confidential informant. After his release, he continued the drug sales and organized an illegal firearms deal with Combs, selling ten firearms, including an unserialized machine gun, with Nancy Garcia involved. The couple bought a home in Arizona with money from these illegal activities, and the home is now subject to forfeiture by the United States, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The investigation leading to the convictions of the Garcias and Combs was conducted by the FBI’s Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The U.S. Attorney's Office stated, "This case is the product of an investigation by the FBI’s Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives," with prosecution by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella. Michael Garcia was sentenced to a lengthy prison term. Gonzalo Garcia died in pretrial custody. Tyler Combs pleaded guilty to related charges and was sentenced to six and a half years in prison. Nancy Garcia received a five-year sentence for drug distribution. The cases are part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods and Project Guardian initiatives.
