Between April 28 and May 4, Operation Consequences swept through San Bernardino County, with law enforcement from various agencies, including the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Gangs/Narcotics Division, hitting the streets to target quality-of-life issues. This operation is a direct response to the challenges posed by Proposition 47, seeking to bring down the escalation in homelessness, drug addiction, and theft across the county. In an official statement released by the Sheriff's Department, this push is also being fueled by the recently passed Proposition 36, aiming to put tougher measures in place against such crimes.
Investigators did not hesitate to quickly apply the new powers granted by Proposition 36, which led to two enhanced arrests in this recent crackdown. Overall, the team conducted three search warrants, seizing four firearms, including a ghost gun, and a stash of narcotics, suspected cocaine, and over three pounds of methamphetamine. The operation culminated in nine felony and 13 misdemeanor arrests, as referenced in a detailed report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. During this action, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors green-lighted additional funds, intensifying the Sheriff's capacity to clamp down on crime affecting community residents' well-being.
On the ground, participating teams spread out across several locations, including the 11800 block of Hardy Avenue in Adelanto, the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue in San Bernardino, and the 18000 block of Bohnert Avenue in Rialto.
Looking forward, Operation Consequences is set to be a sustained initiative over the coming months, aiming to significantly reduce violent crime and dismantle dangerous gang activities. The coalition bringing this operation into effect is comprehensive, featuring the Sheriff's Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police Department, San Bernardino County Probation, United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
