In a late-night operation, the Santa Monica Police Department swooped in on a suspicious vehicle, yielding a trove of evidence that landed two individuals behind bars on a blend of charges, including parole violations and possession of burglary tools. According to a Facebook post by the Santa Monica PD, officers patrolling near the 800 block of Wilshire Blvd, where a bank drop box had been repeatedly tampered with, spotted the vehicle at around 1:48 AM on Friday.
Upon stopping the car for multiple apparent vehicle code infractions, law enforcement discovered the driver was on parole for an attempted murder charge, a loaded 9mm firearm was hiding in plain sight within the center console next to a CCTV scanner, devices to start vehicles remotely, a variety of key fobs, a laptop, ski masks, and other specialized burglary tools. The vehicle was also carrying clothing items that matched those seen in bank surveillance footage of the aforementioned tampering incidents. Both the driver and the passenger were promptly arrested and taken into custody, their trove of dubious items serving as silent witnesses to their intentions.
The driver faces charges including Parole Violation, Possession of Burglary Tools, Conspiracy, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle, the passenger is slapped with Possession of Burglary Tools and Conspiracy, the pair's next encounter with the justice system is scheduled for a court appearance on May 13th. The Santa Monica Police urge locals to keep a vigilant eye for suspicious activities, recommending citizens to report such occurrences either through the non-emergency line or by dialing 9-1-1 when urgency dictates.
