The National Weather Service forecasts increasing breezy trade winds in Honolulu as the weekend approaches, caused by a strengthening high-pressure system north of the Hawaiian islands. Windward and mauka areas may experience brief showers, while leeward areas are expected to remain dry, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service reports that "locally breezy E winds" are expected to strengthen and continue through the weekend as a low-level trough northwest of Kauai weakens. The winds may briefly shift to the ESE, but "a new, strong high is expected to build well N of the islands" next week, leading to stronger ENE trade winds. "VFR conditions" are forecast for aviation, with some areas experiencing "MVFR conditions" in windward and mauka zones. An AIRMET Sierra for mountain obscuration over windward Big Island is in effect, but it is expected to clear later this morning. No other AIRMETs are currently active.

The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory from 6 AM today through early Saturday for areas including Maalaea Bay and Big Island Leeward Waters. "A relatively small size, moderate to long period north northwest swell" is expected to peak tonight and decline over the weekend. East-facing shores will remain calm today, but "an increase in the east wind wave chop is expected Friday as trades strengthen over and upstream of the state."
