Last week, a Suitland woman was found dead, her body wrapped in plastic and partially covered with concrete, prompting a police investigation that quickly turned into a murder case. Sherron Turner, 44, was found inside her apartment on Ewing Avenue after police conducted a welfare check on April 24. Her boyfriend, Michael McClanahan, 38, has been charged with her murder, according to a report from WMAR2 News.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed Turner died from blunt force trauma. Authorities were able to arrest McClanahan following the discovery of the body swiftly. He was apprehended after being caught on camera "placing objects on his person" and then allegedly stabbing a person in a Washington, D.C. Walmart, as detailed by WMAR2 News. They have now pressed charges that include first- and second-degree murder and attempting to dispose of Turner's body improperly.
On the night following the welfare check, the police were to observe Turner's vehicle, driven by an individual who then successfully fled into D.C. when officers attempted an approach. The day after the failed apprehension, D.C. police detained McClanahan on an unrelated assault charge. Found in his possession were items linking him to Turner and the crime scene, including her license plates and Home Depot receipts for materials similar to those used to conceal her body, as detailed by WTOP. The same report noted the presence of empty concrete mix bags and mixing bowls in the deceased's apartment, silently underscoring the premeditation within this act of violence.
