San Fernando residents can breathe a sigh of relief as a suspected serial tagger has been apprehended in connection with a spree of vandalism incidents across the city. According to KTLA, the San Fernando Police Department arrested 29-year-old Chris Ramirez Vasquez on suspicion of felony vandalism. He is accused of causing an estimated $3,000 to $4,000 in damages by tagging the word “Blur” on various properties throughout the San Fernando Valley.
The arrest was made after officers quickly responded to a vandalism report at a local church. An eyewitness claimed to have seen Ramirez Vasquez in the act and did not hesitate to alert the authorities. The suspect attempted to quickly flee the scene, but the responding officers were able to locate him hiding in his apartment within a nearby complex. In a statement by SFPD Chief Fabian Valdez, "This arrest is the result of the swift response of our patrol officers and investigative work of our detectives."
Furthermore, the information from a Facebook post by the San Fernando Police Department revealed Ramirez Vasquez was taken into custody without further incident. Beyond the vandalism charges, he is also wanted in connection with another case involving criminal threats. The Police Department's post highlighted the effectiveness of community partnership in ensuring public safety by stating, "The San Fernando Police Department thanks the community for its continued partnership and encourages residents to promptly report suspicious activity."
