The National Weather Service in Tampa, Florida, has provided a detailed forecast for the upcoming week, pointing to a pattern of partly sunny skies and a consistent threat of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to hover in the low to mid-90s, with heat index values inching even higher. According to the latest update released by the NWS, today's chance of precipitation stands at 30 percent, primarily between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Tonight should bring a minor reprieve from the rain chances, which dips to 10 percent before 8 p.m. However, tonight's mild north northwest wind is expected to truly go calm as the evening wears on. Moving into Friday, the forecast suggests a 20 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms to once again develop after 2 p.m., with sunny conditions prevailing despite the risk of precipitation and another day of high temperatures around 93 degrees. The pattern continues into the weekend with sunny skies and hot conditions, with highs steadily climbing to hit near 95 degrees by Saturday.
As the weekend progresses, the likelihood of thunderstorms slightly increases. The forecast for Sunday indicates similar temperatures with yet an additional chance of rain and thunderstorms post-2 p.m. The mild wind conditions are expected to persist throughout the day. Memorial Day also carries a 40 percent chance of late afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures continuing to peak near 95 degrees under sunny skies.
The intermittent nature of these meteorological conditions is expected to stay the course as the new week unfolds. Again, there's about a 30 percent chance for rain or thunderstorms on Tuesday and the same pattern of sunny climate during the day. As Wednesday beckons, that chance significantly rises to 50 percent, signaling potentially wetter conditions midweek while temperatures refuse to significantly fall away from the low 90s.
