A tragic scene unfolded in Dana Point on Tuesday when a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a teenage driver and left five other teenagers injured, as reported by KTLA. The Orange County Sheriff's Department said the collision happened just before noon, near the intersection of Dana Point Harbor Drive and Island Way. A Dodge pickup truck lost control and slammed into a tree. The young driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Of the remaining passengers, two suffered minor injuries, while three were in critical condition when transported to the hospital.

Mark Przybylak, a Dana Point local, reported to NBC Los Angeles that he heard what sounded like a "huge explosion" and ran to assist the victims without hesitation. Upon reaching the crash site, Przybylak found the driver gravely injured. "I just stayed there with that girl, holding her hand. I could still feel the warmth in my hand. I prayed,” he said. Przybylak wanted the girl's parents to know that “she didn't die alone, and God used me to hold her hand." The details surrounding the cause of the accident remain unclear, with investigation proceedings led by the OCSD's Major Accident Investigation Team still ongoing.

The identities of the teens have not been disclosed, but a makeshift memorial with flowers and candles has appeared at the crash site, according to NBC Los Angeles. One of the bystanders, Gustavo Carmona, gave his account, noting the extensive damage to the pickup: “It was destroyed from the front and sides. The firefighters had to remove one or two doors to get the children out,” he told the news outlet.

FOX 11 shared aerial images evidencing the severity of the crash, showing a tire detached and lying between roadway medians and the heavily damaged truck. Despite continuous efforts, official spokespeople from the Orange County Sheriff's Department have yet to provide further information about the victims, all confirmed to be teenagers. First responders pronounced the driver dead at the crash site, while the five passengers were quickly sent to receive urgent medical attention.
