An overnight shooting in East Baltimore has claimed the life of a teenage boy and left another young man wounded. The Baltimore Police Department reports indicate a surge of gunfire was detected last night. According to FOX Baltimore, the incident occurred at approximately 6:13 p.m. in the 3500 block of Brehms Lane; responding officers found a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg and later intercepted a car at Mannasota and Brendan Avenues, where they discovered the gravely injured 15-year-old.
The fifteen-year-old, whose wounds proved fatal despite medical interventions, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, his passing marking another youth lost prematurely to the city's unchecked cycle of violence. The 19-year-old, also treated at the hospital, survived his injuries. WBAL-TV noted a police spokesperson confirmed that the 15-year-old was not behind the wheel of the aforementioned vehicle, countering early speculations that might have placed him in the driver's seat at the time of the attack.
In the wake of the shooting, detectives are actively pursuing leads and have brought two individuals into custody for questioning.
Homicide investigators are at the helm of the ongoing inquiry.
