A tornado struck Dodge County on last night, damaging buildings and cutting power to thousands. By this morning, over 14,000 residents were without electricity, according to the We Energies outage map. The National Weather Service began assessing the damage, focusing on the communities of Juneau and Mayville, as FOX 6 reported.
In a report by TMJ4, the tornado hit around 6 p.m., with TMJ4 Chief Meteorologist Brian Niznansky confirming both cities were affected, though it was unclear if one or multiple tornadoes were involved. Significant damage was reported in northern Juneau and southern Mayville. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said that deputies were going door to door to check on residents.
Roads and highways were blocked by fallen trees and downed power lines. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office asked non-residents to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to operate without obstruction, as noted by WISN. Storm assessments and recovery operations are ongoing, with officials continuing to evaluate the extent of the destruction.
