A disturbing confrontation at a North Hollywood gas station has garnered significant attention after Gigi Candy, a transgender woman, utilized social media to broadcast a video capturing a man slashing her car tires and threatening her physical safety. The incident, which took place at an Arco station across the 101 Freeway from Universal Studios last Thursday, has set off a citywide search for the unidentified male assailant.
According to the video posted by Candy, and now widely circulated, the situation escalated after the two exchanged middle fingers. "He starts blasting his horn, zero patience in the world," Candy described the precursor to the attack in KTLA's interview. She moved to a different pump only for the individual to follow and then, in a fit of anger, proceeded to puncture her tire multiple times with a pocketknife. A female passenger was also present in a man's vehicle during the incident.
"I was shaken, and I didn’t know what to do. I froze," Candy told KTLA regarding her response to the shocking incident. She further speculated that her identity as a transgender individual may have played a role in provoking the attacker, although she remained uncertain. Candy has since filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department and initiated a GoFundMe campaign, which has raised $15,000 to cover the damages and her lost income.

"You could see him in my rearview mirror, just like, spazzing out, screaming, yelling," Candy recounted the event's intensity in a FOX LA report. After the tire slashing, the attacker reportedly shouted, "You're lucky I don't stab you," intensifying the threat level. The LAPD affirmed they are actively investigating the case, though the perpetrator remains at large. Social media has become a prominent avenue for Candy, seeking public assistance in hopes that someone might recognize the assailant and come forward. "Traumatized. I'm very traumatized," Candy stated, expressing her ongoing fear following the attack.
