Two teenagers, an 18-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl, faced grave danger on a Butler County road early yesterday morning. In a critical accident reported by WPXI, the pair was seriously injured after their vehicle lost control and careened off the roadway. The vehicle entangled with a guide rail, then veered into the woods, striking trees before flipping over and tumbling down an embankment on West Sunbury Road near Aggas Road, around 7 a.m.
An alert from a cellphone brought Butler County 911 officials to the desperate scene. Upon arrival, both teenagers were found outside of the vehicle, which suggested a violent ejection, and were in such a dire state that they required immediate medical evacuation. They were helped up an embankment, where emergency helicopters whisked them away to Pittsburgh hospitals for urgent care, as provided by WTAE.
While it is clear that the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn properly, as documented by Pennsylvania State Police, the specific circumstances leading to this tragic incident remain under investigation.
