
Victory at the "Run for the Rabbit" race was in sight for the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) Motorsports Team as they fielded their racing efforts at the Limaland Motorsports Park last Friday, where Aidan Hinds and his No. 01 UMP Modified car took home an unequivocal win, as detailed in a recent report by UNOH News. UNOH had three drivers on their roster for the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks: Tyler Matheny, Dylan Drake, and Houston Null in cars No. 01, No. 1, and No. 11, respectively. Though their night held mixed results, Drake's car suffered a technical setback that ended his race prematurely.
The event, marred by adverse weather conditions, brought upon an alteration in the typical proceedings, leading to the absence of qualifying sessions and the drivers were instead sorted into Heat races immediately following their hot laps, and Aidan Hinds, through a commendable performance, maneuvered up four places to clinch second in his Heat, which set him up for pole position during the A Feature according to the UNOH report Null and Matheny also put forth strong showings in their respective heats, however a discovered flaw in Drake's vehicle, a hole in the radiator, prematurely sidelined the Kansas driver.
Hinds' outing was notable, leading the majority of the laps and expertly navigating numerous caution flags and restarts to maintain his lead, a testament to both his racing acumen and the car's preparedness for the competition the excitement for the day concluded when Hinds, barely relinquishing the top position, sailed across the finish line, to the visible elation of the UNOH crew crowding the stands the UNOH crew reveling in the sight of the white flag being waved heralding the closing lap that segued into victory with the final wave of the checkered flag.
