In Warren, a traffic mishap on Tuesday resulted in injuries to a police officer and another driver. As reported by CBS News Detroit, the accident occurred at the intersection of Nine Mile Road and Van Dyke, following the officer's completion of a traffic stop. The collision happened when a third vehicle hit the police car while trying to merge onto the road, impeded by obstructed views around a dump truck.
According to The Detroit News, the officer was leaving a shopping plaza near the crash site. While his patrol car's emergency lights and sirens were inactive, the incident unfolded at the intersection's southwest corner, just outside a shopping plaza, that part of the street has been pondered over in recent public safety talks, the convergence of stationary traffic and eager turners coalescing into an often treacherous dance. Both the officer and the woman driving the third vehicle sustained minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals.
Detectives from the Warren Police Department reviewed security footage and believe the event was accidental, as stated in an article from ClickonDetroit. The crash reconstruction unit is conducting further investigations, and it was mentioned that the crash was considered a routine traffic accident.
