Early Thursday morning, a burglary at Bibi's Bakery and Cafe in West Los Angeles left the shop with shattered glass and stolen property. At approximately 2:30 a.m., four suspects were captured on surveillance footage smashing the front door, according to KTLA, forcefully entering the establishment located at 8928 West Pico Blvd. The video shows the hooded individuals using a hammer and other tools to attempt to pry open a cash drawer and a safe, without success.

The owner, Dan Messinger, described the incident to KTLA, revealing that the burglars made off with around $50 from the tip jar, saying, "They ended up taking the tips that were on the counter, so maybe it was $50 worth of tips that we had accumulated.” The thieves subsequently escaped in a black sedan before the arrival of the police. Employees arriving at the sound of the alarm were the first to discover the breach and promptly informed Messinger of the break-in and the apparent theft.

Messinger expressed gratitude for the community's support amid the unfortunate circumstances, telling KTLA, "A silver lining of today has been the support of the community. It does make me feel good inside to know that we have their support." In another account of the event, FOX LA reported the burglary occurring at around 3:15 a.m. and noted that the entrance to the bakery was forced by three masked suspects, as shown in the surveillance footage.

The Los Angeles Police Department is now investigating the break-in, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out.
