Drivers in Anne Arundel County should be prepared to ease off on their accelerators as the county police department is on the verge of bringing a new automated speed enforcement camera online. Starting June 19, the camera located in the school zone on the 300 block of Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie, near Oak Manor Elementary School, will be operational.
It aims to curb speeding and promote safer driving habits, especially in areas crowded with our youngest citizens during school hours. Anne Arundel County Police have announced that the camera's watchful eye will be active from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
But worry not, speedsters—before the county starts issuing actual citations, there's a grace period. Paving the way for compliance rather than immediate punishment, officials have decided to issue only warnings for the first 15 days following the camera's activation.
