Arlington residents, your Independence Day weekend will see a shift in certain municipal services, while you'll still be able to play golf or hit a few tennis balls. The City of Arlington announced recently that the town will take a day off from the grind to celebrate July Fourth, resulting in a temporary pause in some public services. According to the City of Arlington, city-run offices and facilities won't be open for business on July 4.

Expect no trucks rolling down your streets for garbage and recycling because those services are also taking a breather on the Fourth. If your trash bins typically hit the curb on Fridays, set a reminder to roll them out on Saturday, July 5, instead. "Residents whose regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection day falls on July 4 will have their curbside collection shifted by one day because of the holiday," the City of Arlington relayed, ensuring no one's waste management plans go awry. Normal service will be restored on July 8.

Most city spots will close their doors on this patriotic occasion. This includes Arlington City Hall, libraries, the Municipal Court, and various community and recreation centers—yes, even the Arlington Animal Services Center will give its staff a day to revel in fireworks and festivities. However, for those looking to engage in leisure, Arlington On-Demand will be in operation, and certain athletic centers and golf clubs will welcome residents looking to maintain an active day. The Beacon Recreation Center will see shortened hours from 12 to 4 p.m., while Elzie Odom Athletic Center will open bright and early at 8 a.m. but close up shop at noon.
