
Arlington's communication prowess was spotlighted with a cache of honors at the recent Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) gathering in Fort Worth. The city's Office of Communications landed an impressive seven accolades at the June 5th celebration, recognized for its breadth and quality in municipal messaging.
The TAMIO awards showcase the highest standards of communication expertise, highlighting cities across Texas that excel in areas like website design, social media engagement, video production, and publications. This year, nearly 700 entries vied for recognition, making the winning by Arlington all the more noteworthy. Among the lauded projects, the 'Now Batting' campaign for the FY2025 budget led the charge, securing not just one but two TAMI Awards.
Specifically, Arlington's winning entries included the 'Now Batting; FY2025 Budget Campaign' and its accompanying video, the 'Heartbeat of Arlington GM Documentary,' the 'FY2024 Economic Development Annual Report,' the redesign of the Arlington EDC Website, and the 'MyArlingtonTX News' platform. Moreover, the 'Dearest Gentle Readers E-Newsletter Social Media Post' did not go unnoticed, fetching a well-deserved second-place Award of Excellence.
Further, Arlington's commitment to superior communications was underscored by a prestigious individual honor. The Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs was recognized with the Cheryl A. Soward Communicator of Distinction Award, an accolade reserved for those who have shown an exceptional dedication to the craft of government communications, according to the City of Arlington's announcement. The award, selected by the TAMIO Board, goes to a government communication professional who has excelled in their field.
