Aurora's infrastructure has been put front and center, with the Build Up Aurora Infrastructure Task Force inviting locals to join a conversation about the city's growing needs. Planners and officials are setting up shop at various family-friendly events this summer where Aurora residents can voice their thoughts on essential services ranging from public safety and transportation to the upkeep of parks and libraries.

They're kicking things off on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Center at Aurora, followed by a June 28 gathering at the Southeast Recreation Center and Fieldhouse, and wrapping up on July 12 at Winged Melody Park. Each of these meetups promises to keep things light with family activities, snacks, and even some giveaways, according to the City of Aurora.

This outreach is part of a broader initiative to tackle a daunting $700 million in critical capital projects identified as necessary to not just maintain but improve infrastructure for a population that has shot up by nearly 40% over the past two decades. The task force committee is hitting the local scene hard, making appearances at community events and meetings to get a pulse on resident concerns and desires.
