A Baltimore County truck driver and his wife recently scored a life-altering win with the Maryland Lottery, laying claim to a $250,000 prize from a Money Bags scratch-off ticket.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Food Lion on North Point Road in Baltimore County, and what might have been a mundane grocery store visit turned into an unexpected fortune for the couple. They initially contemplated skipping the lottery vending machine but ultimately decided to try their luck. "I'm still not believing this is real," the winner stated, as per Nottingham MD, after claiming the prize at Maryland Lottery Headquarters on Monday.
In addition to the grand prize, the Money Bags game, which was launched in February, also features three remaining $250,000 top prizes, two $50,000 prizes, 12 $10,000 prizes, and thousands of smaller prizes, as detailed by Shore News Network. The win positions the couple among a select group of major winners, with a D.C. resident being the first to claim the top prize in May.
With the new financial boon, the couple plans to pay bills and fund home renovations. In pursuit of a balance between responsibility and enjoyment, they also hope to allocate funds for a pleasurable expenditure, as the husband articulated, "She asked me to guess how much we'd won," Paul said, "I guessed $500, the most I'd ever won, but she kept pointing up. Then she showed me. 100% disbelief," as he recounted to the Nottingham MD.
The local Food Lion, where destiny favored the couple, will receive a bonus of $1,000 from the Maryland Lottery for their role in selling the winning ticket.
