These gatherings, which take place weekly as part of the "Run for Their Lives" movement, have been an ongoing response since October 7, 2023, to the plight of Israeli hostages still not returned home, with the local chapter's protests intensified in the wake of a violent Molotov cocktail assault on a similar event in Boulder, Colorado where fifteen individuals sustained injuries even as FBI and Homeland Security signal an "elevated threat" to the Jewish community, parallel to rising tensions tied to the Israeli-Hamas conflict stretching its reverberations onto American soil.
"We show a sense of community solidarity and not be afraid, because that's what these people want us to be," Councilman Julian Jones of Baltimore County’s 4th District said, reflecting the sentiment that fear would not win, a stance echoed by Rabbi Rachel Sabath Beit-Halachmi's resolve as she shared personal stories underscoring the community's vulnerability and courage; "The fear of an attack against us has not cowered people and has not stopped them from coming out to support the community and the hostages," she stated, as reported by CBS News Baltimore.
