After an extensive cleanup operation, Harbor East is reopening roadways that were impacted by a significant diesel fuel spill. Mayor Brandon Scott and the Department of Transportation Director, Veronica P. McBeth, informed the public that the affected area along Central Avenue between Lancaster and Point Streets is now accessible as of yesterday evening, according to FOX Baltimore.

The disruption also led to the temporary suspension of Harbor Connector operations, which are set to resume this morning. This reinstatement encompasses Harbor Connector Route #1, servicing Maritime Park (Landing 8) to Locust Point (Landing 10) with a 15-minute interval, from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m., weather conditions permitting. More information can be found by visiting the Harbor Connector website.

Meanwhile, according to WBAL-TV, roads that have been closed through the weekend in response to the emergency handling of the 5,000-gallon diesel leak are back open. The cleanup efforts have been noted to be progressing well, which has allowed for a reduction in the ongoing work at the site.

Additional adjustments were required for the Water Taxi as the containment efforts at Fells Point dock affected the fleet's operations. As McDaniel conveyed in an email, as cited by WBAL-TV, "At this time, there is no alternative stop available for the trolley. The closest potential location, Maritime Park (located behind the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers building), is also adjacent to another storm drain. Although that location doesn't have a containment boom preventing access, the Unified Command has closed it to vessel traffic to ensure the safety of cleanup efforts, so we cannot operate from there either."
