The Wayne County Airport Authority, along with the Transportation Security Administration, swiftly took action following the alert received in the morning, as reported by The Detroit News. According to the publication, Matt Morawski, director of communications and external affairs for the airport authority, indicated that the aircraft was directed to a secure area for passengers to be safely deplaned and taken back to the terminal.
The evacuated passengers underwent additional screenings as authorities inspected the aircraft with K-9 units, the urgency of the situation heightened by the early morning timing of the threat, just as daybreak casts its first light and travelers harbored thoughts of clear skies and distant shores, yet here they faced an unforeseen delay, their journeys abruptly halted. A bystander named Ray Piasecki described seeing the scene unfold with emergency vehicles surrounding the aircraft, his curiosity piqued and recounted to FOX 2 Detroit, "Everybody was just scurrying about," further noting the absence of visible passenger evacuation from his vantage point.
