Brighton's City Council is leveling up its commitment to Mother Nature by rolling out the town's first-ever Sustainability Advisory Board, and they're looking for a few green-minded locals to help steer the ship. As per the word on the official city website, this eco-team will be tasked with dishing out sage advice on how to jack up the sustainability factor across the board, covering everything from how we use energy to how we get around town without chugging through gallons of gas.
Living up to their promise of making Brighton a friendlier place for the planet, the Council gave the thumbs up to the new board back on May 27, and since then, it's been full steam ahead. Totally in tune with the needs of its residents, the city's Sustainability Coordinator, Traci McLean, highlighted the essence of what this board is all about. "Community engagement is at the heart of the sustainability work we do here in the City of Brighton, so the formation of this board is a natural step to advance this commitment," she said, according to the City of Brighton. The squad will not just be a bunch of talking heads either; they're expected to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done.
This isn't just a gig for the greenhouse gurus or the biodiversity bigwigs either; regular Joes and Janes with a knack for the eco-friendly and a passion for community can hop on board, too. They're not just looking for diversity in expertise but in backgrounds as well, sending a clear signal that every voice counts when it's about safeguarding our world for the kiddos and their kiddos after that.
