Get ready to swap your four wheels for two because Bike to Work Day is rolling into the Denver area on Wednesday, June 25. The event, engineered to encourage commuters to choose pedal power over horsepower, is open to everyone, from the office-bound to the remote workers looking to break their homebound chains. According to the City of Aurora, Way to Go, a program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments, is the driving force behind this eco-friendly initiative.
Registering for the event not only gets your leg muscles in on some action, but it also enters you into a drawing with an e-bike on the line among other prizes. For the early birds ready to pump the pedals, Aurora is setting up a breakfast station on the High Line Canal, near the trail underpass on the west side of Chambers Road, where you can snag a free beverage and breakfast burrito courtesy of Bicycle Aurora from 6:45 to 9 a.m., and of course, there's that all-important chance to mingle with fellow cyclists and feel part of a community moving in greener unison.
But that's not all, for those stationed or studying over at the Anschutz Medical Campus, a breakfast station awaits in front of the Fitzsimons Building on the grass oval from 6 to 9 a.m., while Northeast Transportation Connections is prepping to host theirs at Stanley Marketplace from 6:30 to 9 a.m., Ready to Work is attending to the crowd at Parker and Dam roads from 7 to 9 a.m. and Epic Mountain Gear is extending their offerings from 7 a.m. to the ripe hour of 1 p.m. at 2950 S. Boston St.
