The Office of Mobility Innovation (OMI) of the City of Detroit is rolling out its annual Detroit Bike Summit once again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but this year it pitches its tent on the city’s east side at Chandler Park, as confirmed by a recent press release. Expectations are high for the day-long cycling-focused event, which is poised to attract a diverse crowd ranging from biking enthusiasts to curious locals looking to engage with their community and learn more about sustainable transportation.
With a compelling theme of "Eastside Bound," the summit aims to put the spotlight on clean transportation and community solidarity, in addition to offering a plethora of activities such as bike rides, music, food trucks, raffles, and more, according to the City of Detroit. Boasting a wide array of partners including Chandler Park Conservancy and MoGo among others, the event touts inclusivity, free of charge and inviting persons of all ages to enjoy the occasion, and Tim Slusser, Chief of the OMI, emphasized that "Detroiters deserve access to safe, fun, and convenient ways to get around their neighborhoods."
Community engagement and health are at the core of the summit, with the first hundred to sign up being treated to a prepaid lunch voucher courtesy of sponsors such as College, Career & Beyond and Ajax Paving Company. "The 2025 Bike Summit at Chandler Park is an amazing chance to highlight the park’s significance as an active center for health, recreation, and community engagement," said Alex J. Allen, President & CEO, Chandler Park Conservancy, per the City of Detroit.
