An elderly woman was critically injured during a two-alarm house fire in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood, with the incident demanding a robust response from firefighters. According to KOMO News, the Seattle Fire Department was summoned to the residence on Sunnyside Avenue North near N 38th St shortly after 1 AM today. When they arrived, they faced downed power wires on the north side and visible flames at the front.
The fire's intensity led to a partial structural collapse, with the chimney and portions of the roof caving in. As described by The Seattle Times, firefighters evacuated the building after flames breached the roof at 1:39 AM, posing a risk of collapse. They continued battling the blaze from a distance and successfully extinguished it shortly after 2 AM. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
Amid heavy smoke and debris, firefighters located the woman on the ground a few feet from the back door of the home. She was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries. FOX 13 Seattle reported that responders rapidly extinguished the fire and discovered the woman during a primary search of the premises.
