Authorities in Fayetteville have apprehended a man who made a daring escape from a police car yesterday evening. The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Randy Lane Locklear, initially broke out of the squad car's window while handcuffed, an event confirmed by the CBS 17 report. Locklear's escape initiated a manhunt in the Haymount neighborhood.

Locklear, who was under arrest based on a warrant from Harnett County, managed to escape around 6 p.m., leading police on a chase that had him stripping down to his red underwear, as detailed by authorities to CBS 17. Following the escape, the police conducted a focused search in the areas around Ellington Street and Rush Road.

The Fayetteville Police Department told WRAL that Locklear was initially in custody in connection to a recent robbery investigation and was found with a vehicle linked to that case. During his fleeting bout of freedom, Locklear took a dip in a backyard pool and changed into a pair of black shorts before being discovered in a garage on a nearby property.

After the homeowner alerted the authorities, police found Locklear hiding in the garage with one hand still cuffed, finally taking him back into custody shortly after 8 p.m., the ABC11 reported. In addition to his prior offenses, Locklear now faces additional charges related to his bold but brief escape.
