Big news for King Park residents: the Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services Center is ready for its grand opening. According to a recent advisory, local leaders will gather today at 1230 W. Cherry St. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 10:30 a.m. The new center comes as a beacon for accessible health and human services that have been rooted in the community for over half a century.
The revamped center promises to not only continue but also to expand upon a legacy of service with facilities like the Aging and Disability Resource Center and a round-the-clock MKE Mobile Crisis team. In addition, residents can expect to find a Crisis Response Team, Children’s Services, Disabilities Services, Older Adult Services, Youth Justice, and Transportation Services—all designed to easily reach out and to cater to community needs.
According to the City of Milwaukee, Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs and Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II voiced their excitement about the new addition. They shared, "Having facilities such as this one in the heart of our community are crucial so that residents can access vital health services in an affordable, friendly, and convenient manner." They also made sure to extend thanks to everyone involved in bringing the project to fruition.
Following the ribbon-cutting, the community is invited to a celebration, which includes building tours and a resource fair that will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For those interested in learning more about the Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services Center and its offerings, information is available through an online advisory.
