It's time for the community to dial up the volume because District 9 is transforming into a summer hotspot for music lovers. Starting this weekend, a cavalcade of tunes spanning genres will hit Granville with a lineup of free events that are bound to stir some soul and blues into your summer plans. The Granville Business Improvement District is the conductor of this musical ensemble, rolling out their first act with R&B Fest, taking place tomorrow, June 20 and Sunday, June 22 from noon until 10 p.m.

A break in the melody brings a different beat on Saturday, June 21, serving as an interlude with the Juneteenth Gospel Fest, scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. This day-long extravaganza, according to details obtained by the official press release, will blend food trucks and vendors into its chorus, accompanied by choirs and poets providing the backing vocals. And while R&B and Gospel get their solos, Blues is not to be outdone, with a festival running from June 27 through June 29, providing a three-day riff from noon to 10 p.m daily.

These festivals are turning the Granville Connection at 8633 W. Brown Deer Rd. into a stage that's open to everyone, and it's all happening rain or shine. Alderwoman Larresa Taylor is not just an observer but a vocal advocate for the district's newest symphony of events. "I want to thank the Granville BID for their work in producing these events, and I invite everyone across the city to stop by at one of these amazing festivals," Alderwoman Taylor told the press as per the City of Milwaukee.

With a clear intent to marry the sweet sounds of summer with the communal vibe of the 9th, Alderwoman Taylor echoes the sentiment of music as an inclusive force, "Summer and music in the 9th District have become a perfect pair, and starting this weekend we have a trio of music events that offer something for everyone regardless of your taste," as she was reported saying on the City of Milwaukee.
