In 2024, HCFR-OEM put into action a plan to ensure that, even in the aftermath of disasters, connectivity and power would not be a luxury. They acquired a set of portable charging stations, a move that proved invaluable following the pummeling of Hurricane Milton, as reported by HCFL Gov.
The charging stations come in two sizes and are designed to be as adaptable as the situations that necessitate their use. They can easily be hauled to blackout areas, bringing relief where the grid fails. When Hurricane Milton hit, the charging stations became crucial for people who needed to keep in touch with relatives, healthcare providers, and essential services, including pharmacies and insurance providers—facilitating a semblance of normality amidst the chaos.
These stations do more than charge; they serve as a beacon of comfort, knowledge, and safety. According to HCFL Gov, the larger trailers offer Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and two television screens broadcasting news and local announcements. Additionally, these units often provide peace of mind with twenty lockers, so individuals can secure their devices, and comfort with high-top charging tables fitted with multiple outlets to serve numerous people simultaneously.
Perhaps most impressively, the large charging station exemplifies a triumph of sustainable design. Equipped with three solar-powered batteries, it can continue providing power for an extensive period—up to 5 days, even without new sun exposure.
