
After a collaborative manhunt comprising several law enforcement agencies, the Henderson Police have apprehended 25-year-old Diamante Burton in connection to a May 30 shooting that injured one individual. The incident, which initially involved a large altercation, later escalated to a shooting on Galleria Drive, as per the City of Henderson's official news release.
On Tuesday, detectives, chaperoned by the FBI Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT Team), located Burton near the 6000 block of Boulder Highway around 5:13 p.m. The CAT Team, a multi-agency force that includes members from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Henderson and North Las Vegas Police Departments, Nevada Department of Public Safety, and the FBI, played a key role in the suspect's arrest. Once in custody, Burton faced several charges including attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the City of Henderson.
The incident happened on the evening of May 30 when Henderson Police responded to a large fight. Although the crowd calmed down at first, another outbreak of violence quickly followed. Henderson Police Department later found a man with several gunshot wounds and gave him medical help until paramedics arrived. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition is still unknown, as reported by the City of Henderson.
Although this appears to be an isolated incident, the fast response from law enforcement shows their commitment to tackling gun violence. The suspect, Burton, is currently in custody at the Henderson Detention Center, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Henderson Police Department are still investigating and ask anyone with information to come forward, as per the City of Henderson.
