
Local authorities are thoroughly investigating a tragic incident that occurred last Friday evening on Cullen Boulevard, which led to the loss of a man's life. According to a release from the City of Houston, the unfortunate event unfolded around 8:55 p.m., when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the 13300 block of the thoroughfare.
The victim, identified as 44-year-old Scott Cavitt, was reportedly hit by a southbound black Chevrolet Silverado while he was not using a crosswalk. The Houston Fire Department paramedics were quick to respond but were tragically unable to save Cavitt, who was pronounced deceased on-site. The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, represented by Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer C. Ballard, is to continuously investigate the fatal crash.
The driver of the Silverado initially fled the scene but subsequently returned. In their official account, authorities have stated that upon his return, the driver was questioned. He was found not to be intoxicated and was thereafter released pending further inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash. It remains unclear what consequences, if any, the driver will face pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
