It's a new dawn for health care in Ohio's Mahoning Valley as Insight Health System steps up, set on breathing life back into the Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital. The institutions, which were once stranded by Steward Health Care's abrupt closure in 2024, now have a chance at revival. According to a statement released by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost on Tuesday, the commitment to restore these hospitals isn't just about brick and mortar; it's about the community's heartbeat.
Emphasized by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost during this appointment was the critical need for these facilities to not only open but to be “fully staffed and fully operational, and fully licensed and accredited.” A sentiment that's echoed across the valley, where the abrupt disappearance of these health services last year left a palpable void in the local health care landscape.
Before Insight's arrival on the scene, Yost's office had been busy ensuring the situation didn't degrade further. Steward Health Care's shutdown had rung alarm bells, prompting legal action from the AG's office aimed at protecting the public interest and the indispensable health services that vanished seemingly overnight.
