In a recent crackdown on property crime, Irvine Police Officers responded to the scene of a vehicle burglary on the 2100 block of Scholarship last month, according to an official post by the Irvine Police Department on their Facebook page. The suspect, identified as Brandon Louis Whitaker, age 46, from Lake Forest, was caught after a license plate reader system alerted authorities when he was near the city's border.
Whitaker was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft. The tools he had stolen from various vehicles within the secured parking garage were items sought out, but it was the concerted effort of patrol officers and detectives that ensured a majority of the tools were eventually recovered from Whitaker's home. The investigative team served a search warrant at the suspect's residence, demonstrating effective collaboration between different branches of law enforcement in tracking down and recovering stolen property.
The Irvine Police Department took a moment to commend the teamwork underpinning this case. "This case exemplifies what happens when sharp patrol officers and detailed detectives work hand in glove together," they stated. In Irvine, the pursuit of justice seems to be treated with a steadfast commitment to thorough and collaborative police work, and in this instance, it appears to have led to a successful conclusion for those affected by the thefts.
