The Greensboro facility, slated to create 14,560 jobs over the next four decades, represents the most substantial job commitment in North Carolina's history.
JetZero—a company specializing in the design, and manufacture of the Z4, a revolutionary blended-wing body jet—pledges to introduce a new era in aviation, marked by reduced carbon emissions and increased traveler experience. The Governor expressed enthusiasm for the state's ongoing relationship with flight, stating, "From first in flight to now the future of flight, North Carolina and our skilled workforce is soaring," according to the Office of the Governor's release. The California-based company boasts partnerships with prestigious entities such as NASA, and Siemens, and alongside airlines like United and Alaska.
The state's Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) will play a part in facilitating JetZero's launch in the area, with a potential reimbursement to the firm upwards of $1 billion over 37 years, providing they meet job creation, and investment targets. JetZero could make annual payments for up to 29 years if at least 10,000 jobs are created and sustained, a testament to the JDIG's transformative vision, as noted in the Office of the Governor's release. The investment's predicted public dollar ROI stands at 274 percent, signaling robust economic expectations for the state.
Moreover, JetZero's choice of Guilford County, a Tier 2 classified region by the state’s economic tier system, brings a further $113 million into the state's Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account, to support infrastructure upgrades in rural communities, as outlined by the same announcement. State appropriations for the project may reach $450 million for site preparation, road improvements, and the construction of manufacturing, and research facilities.
