Five Pick 'n Save store locations are set for closure in southeast Wisconsin, a move that Kroger, the parent company of the grocery stores, says is necessary to reduce expenses and safeguard the brand's future profitability. These closures are part of a broader strategy to shutter 60 stores nationwide over the next year and a half.
A spokesperson for Pick 'n Save confirmed the impending closures, stating that affected employees will be given chances to transfer to other nearby stores. This information comes directly from interviews conducted with a company spokesperson Fox6Now and TMJ4 reported. The stores that will bid farewell to their communities include the locations in Glendale, two in Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, and Oak Creek.
Shoppers have voiced their concerns over the inconvenience these closures represent. According to an interview with Jeffrey Walker, a regular customer at the 35th Street store, "It's going to be a big inconvenience for us," as WISN 12 News reported. Susan Luling, who shops at the Ryan Road location, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the negative impact store closures have on local communities and businesses.
The company's decision underscores a commitment to "run more efficiently and ensure the long-term health of our business," a Pick 'n Save spokesperson said in a statement obtained by WISN.
