Two teenagers from Kyle face multiple charges following a series of vehicle burglaries over the weekend. Jahaziel Duenas Velazquez and David Sosa Cepeda, both aged 17, were detained early Sunday morning by the Kyle Police Department after a report of a car burglary led officers to their location at approximately 6 a.m. on the 400 block of Covent Drive.

After the arrest, it was discovered by the authorities with loaded handgun magazines among other stolen goods from three additional vehicles in the area. This misplacement of trust in automobile security serves a greater narrative of vulnerability among residents who leave their treasures unguarded. CBS Austin reported that during questioning, one of the suspects confessed to not only the weekend's incidents but also to additional thefts that took place the previous day in a neighboring community.

In a separate discovery triggered by a report of suspicious circumstances, officers found more stolen property in the garage of a house unrelated to the initial string of burglaries. The Kyle Police Department is considering warrants for an additional charge of burglary of a habitation, as the investigation presses forward.

The local police have issued a caution to the community urging citizens to lock their vehicle doors and to ensure all valuables are removed, a sound practice that could deter opportunistic crime. While some stolen items were retrieved in the garage, driving home the point that the protection of personal property often lies in the most basic of precautions. "The Kyle Police Department advises residents to lock their vehicle doors, remove all valuables, and report any suspicious activity to help prevent crimes of opportunity," advised the department in a statement obtained by FOX 7 Austin.
