Heads up, Las Vegas commuters: The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has released a fresh schedule of overnight lane reductions and ramp closures on freeways around the region starting tomorrow. If you're planning to travel by road, prepare to potentially adjust your routes accordingly. Driving through Las Vegas is about to get a little trickier with the ongoing project that's replacing I-515 signs with those of I-11, as reported by NDOT.

The updates commence at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow, and will cease at 5:00 a.m. next Monday, with reduced lanes on Rancho Dr from Washington Ave to I-11/U.S. 95 among others. The schedule, spanning several days, includes overnight closures that will affect roads such as North Rainbow Blvd and East Flamingo Rd. Trying to avoid any additional stress, NDOT has limited its contractors to a 5-mile work zone each night to minimize widespread disruptions.

Note that lane reductions will carry on throughout the week, including closures on Northbound I-11/U.S. 95 HOV lane from Jones Blvd to Rainbow Blvd and the Northbound I-11/U.S. 95 HOV ramp to Summerlin Pkwy, starting at the beginning of the week. Lanes will also be reduced on East Flamingo Rd to I-11/U.S. 95 in the following days. For precise timings and further details, visit NDOT's announcement.

For those who frequent the interstates, it’s essential to keep in mind that the Federal Highway Administration officially designated I-515 between the Henderson Interchange and Kyle Canyon Road as I-11 back in November 2023. Motorists are advised to remain cautious when passing through work zones and consider taking alternate routes if they can. Furthermore, updates on highway restrictions are to be easily available thanks to NDOT’s collaboration with Waze.

If you need to check up on state highway conditions before hitting the road, visit nvroads.com or call 511. Alternatively, keep an eye out for traffic updates through NDOT's social media channels, @NevadaDOTVegas on Twitter for southern Nevada and @nevadadot on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for statewide news. Remember, all scheduled work is subject to change depending on the weather or other uncontrollable factors. Stay informed and drive safe.
