The Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up to throw open the gates of Wayne Frady Park after months of renovations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to noon, and join in on an informal ceremony that seems just about right for a sleepy suburb's midweek midmorning. According to the City of Lewisville, PARD employees will kick things off with a few remarks, just enough to get the local crowd warmed up to let the kids charge ahead to break in that fresh playground equipment and the relocated basketball courts.
For the residents who've watched the park's transformation since January, the swap of the playground and basketball courts is no news. But for our lovely knee-scrapers and dribbling aficionados, it's the new normal. The basketball courts now hang out east of the splash pad with a roadie-friendly connection to the parking lot. A quick escape to a pick-up game right after you park. On the other hand, the shiny new playground is front and center with a walkway that marries it to the splash pad area, optimizing line of sight for all the eagle-eyed parents out there.
Play Lewisville On Wheels will also show up to roll some fun into the event. It's safe to say the community is wheelie excited to see the reinvigorated Wayne Frady Park back in action. With a neat bow on the project, the Parks and Recreation team is ready for the sound of swishing nets and squeals mingling with splash pad giggles, a summer soundscape if there ever was one.
