Nevada's small-time Off the Rails Casino in Lovelock, owned by SRY Industries LLC, might be feeling a bit lighter in the wallet soon as it braces for a $10,000 fine stemming from a slew of alleged procedural missteps in its gaming operations. According to a report by News 3 LV, the Nevada Gaming Control Board laid out an eight-count complaint against the establishment, which includes serious accuses like getting sloppy with progressive payoff schedules and playing fast and loose with the employee registration process, the Nevada Gaming Commission, which holds the final say on such matters, is set to chew over the proposed settlement come this Thursday.
Beyond just paper shuffling woes, Off the Rails Casino is accused of a deeper pattern of disregard for the rules that keep Nevada's gaming industry in check, which includes infractions such as neglecting to record its slot machine payment logs and letting people without clearance into sensitive areas like count rooms. This situation, outlined by Las Vegas Review-Journal paints a chronic issue within the casino's walls with transgressions documented across five years and multiple warnings disregarded, having been issued four uneasy violation letters from 2019 through to 2023, the casino’s representatives, for their part, seem poised to accept the citation without a fight.
Agents deployed by the Control Board's Tax and Licensing Division made their presence known with several on-site inspections designed to detect any unsanctioned practices. Their findings include a comprehensive list of 24 different types of violations that have taken root within the casino's operations. This information comes from an official complaint filed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board on June 13, which meticulously lists where Off the Rails Casino ran off the tracks.
The final verdict on the fine rests in the hands of the Nevada Gaming Commission, which will deliberate on the matter during its scheduled session. The meeting is an opportunity for the commission to either confirm or reject the settlement stipulated by the Control Board, yet there appears to be little expectation of a revolt from the casino's corner, as no challenges to the Control Board’s findings have been signaled thus far. It appears Off the Rails Casino is ready to hitch its wagon to the stipulated terms and move past the rogue gallery of infractions that have placed them in the hot seat of Nevada's gaming guardians.
