The Hernando County Sheriff's Office issued a Silver Alert for 69-year-old Kathryn Kocab, who went missing after leaving her Spring Hill residence for a doctor's appointment yesterday. Last seen by a family member at approximately 11 a.m., concerns for her safety intensified when she never made it to her appointment and did not return home. WFLA News Channel 8 reported that the missing woman is believed to be suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's disease, which has driven the urgency behind her search.
A description provided by the authorities detailed that Kocab drove a gray 2006 Honda Civic with the Florida license plate II27NN. Seen last on State Road 52 in Pasco County earlier yesterday, after leaving her home on Abbeville Street, Kocab stands about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs around 117 pounds, and has gray hair and brown eyes. Amidst the search, Dade City Police Department successfully located her, as confirmed by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. Details surrounding her condition and discovery were not immediately provided.
Pasco News Online reiterated the law enforcement's concern for Kocab's well-being due to her medical condition, reflecting the dangerous intersection of mental health issues and the vulnerability that comes with them among our elderly population.
"Anyone who has seen Mrs. Kocab or has information regarding her current whereabouts is urged to contact the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office," was the call to action, which has thankfully been resolved with a positive outcome, as reported by the Tampa Free Press.
