Harris County breathed a collective sigh of relief as 15-year-old Mikael McComb, a teen with verbal autism who was missing since yesterday, was found safe. The Harris County Sheriff's Office had previously issued an alert and sought public assistance to quickly locate the young boy, who had last been seen on Whiting Rock Street in Baytown, as reported by Click2Houston.
In the effort to find Mikael, who may have been in a mental health crisis, authorities described his last known attire as a long-sleeved T-shirt adorned with red, white, and black, and gray and black sweatpants accented by a yellow stripe. The community was urgently asked to come together to actively look for and safely return Mikael, who has verbal autism but was feared to maybe be struggling mentally, according to the Sheriff's Office statements obtained by Click2Houston.
The search culminated positively when the Harris County Sheriff's Office announced that Mikael was found safe. Details about where and how Mikael was located were not immediately released, but the announcement brought an end to the tense search that had involved residents and law enforcement alike. This welcome news was shared across media outlets, including Fox26Houston, which also acknowledged the challenging circumstances given Mikael's condition.
