The Northern Community Food Security Team, in cooperation with the nonprofit Ripe for Revival, is bringing back their mobile market to Wake Forest tomorrow. The mobile grocery store, a welcome sight for the area's residents, will be conveniently located across from the Northern Regional Center at 350 E. Holding Ave. Between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, this initiative promises to provide access to essential food items, come rain or shine.
Underscoring the importance of food accessibility, NCFST offers a "pay-what-you-can" model, aimed to broadly accommodate community members' financial situations. According to Wake Forest's official announcement, shoppers are presented with a suggested total at checkout, enabling them to pay the suggested amount, contribute more as a pay-it-forward gesture, or simply pay whatever they are able to afford. While there are caps on protein, dairy, and eggs, fresh produce remains unlimited.
Apart from tackling food insecurity, tomorrow adds a bonus. The AmeriHealth Caritas NC Mobile Wellness Center is set to join the mobile market. The center's presence highlights a bridging of nutrition and health services, offering blood pressure screenings, access to Wi-Fi, printers, computers, and charging stations, plus vital information on Medicaid for those in need.
The mobile market accepts both cash and card payments to ensure accessibility for all shoppers. It provides an option for residents of Wake Forest to buy essential items, including affordable groceries, while also supporting local and regional farmers. The NCFST Mobile Market and AmeriHealth’s services aim to improve access to healthy food in the community.
