Starting on Sunday, Pinellas County residents north of SR 580 can water their lawns twice a week due to increased reclaimed water supply. Even-numbered addresses may water on Tuesdays and/or Saturdays, while odd-numbered addresses and common areas follow the schedule for Wednesdays and/or Sundays. This change reflects updated watering restrictions from Pinellas County Utilities in response to higher rainfall and reclaimed water availability.
Sprinklers are not allowed to operate freely between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Rain sensors are encouraged to avoid unnecessary watering. Director Jeremy Waugh stated, “While we’re seeing an increase in rainfall, we continue to encourage water conservation year-round. It’s the most important action we can take to sustain our water supplies, meet future needs and reduce demands on Florida’s water-dependent ecosystems such as springs, rivers, lakes and wetlands. It can also help our customers save money on their water bill,” according to the Pinellas County.
Residents in North County Pinellas are encouraged to use alternatives like harvesting rainwater for watering flower beds, herb gardens, and potted plants. This can help reduce water use and lower water bills. These steps support water conservation efforts in the area, which faces ongoing water shortages due to climate changes and population growth.
